The most appropriate realization of chromatic dispersion (CD) compensation schemes for differently modulated optical signals in high speed mixed data rates high density wavelength division multiplexing (HDWDM) systems is studied. This research is based on OptSim 5.1. simulation software that numerically solves nonlinear Schrödinger equation using split step Fourier method. It is shown, that chromatic dispersion compensation scheme has a crucial role for the evaluation of performance in combined HDWM transmission channels. Therefore the best suitable CD compensation scheme for very complicated combined fiber optical transmission system is found. It is also revealed that implementation of asymmetrical CD compensation schemes in pre- and post-compensation modules are the most efficient and allows achieving the best possible channel’s BER values.
