Presented research work is dedicated to development of more effective fiber composite material to use in light office and private interior components: built-in cabinet doors, working space’s separation, sliding constructions. During the research there are made examples using long hemp fibres as reinforcement used in different proportions, at the beginning 50% and 70% from mass of composite, also varying the fiber coating number and directions. The tension test of the samples has been carried out. Experiments show- using hemp fibres as a reinforcer that is low energy requiring in growing and recycling, with negative CO2 balance and locally grown natural material, it is possible to reduce the costs of the material. After hackling hemp fibres to remove short fibres and remaining shives, layouts of parallel long fibers are prepared, covered with thermoplastic matrix fibres. On machine by temperatures 170-190 oC, tension 19,15 kg/cm2, time 20 minutes 250 x 250 mm composite slab is made. Tension tests are made on Zwick100 machine. Long hemp fibers are used as reinforcement with polypropylene matrix that improves the mechanical persistence in direction of tension axis and add form stability to thin fiber board. The most important factors influencing the resulting mechanical properties are the quality of the fiber matrix adhesion, the selection of suitable processing parameters and the fiber orientation. It is possible to separate the fibers more efficiently and to increase the specific surface by means of appropriate decortication procedures and alkali treatment. This leads to a higher reinforcement potential of the natural fibers. In this work the surface of hemp fibers was modified by treatment with NaOH solutions. SEM-pictures explicitly reveal the success of the treatment.
