New Insight in Actuality of e-Portfolio Systems

The aim of this paper is to provide brief overview of the study of powerful e-portfolio systems, show the role of e-portfolio as an appropriate educational tool in lifelong learning context and render proposals to make e-portfolio systems more effective. The author looks through and analyses goals, essences and potentialities of nowadays e-portfolio platforms, gives his definition of the e-portfolio. He explains also the role of academic staff to develop motivation and promote perfection process of the students. The author displays training needs analysis, assessment of e-portfolios and learning outcomes, reflection and critical thinking which all are crucial components of e-portfolios. E-portfolio is based on the practice, contents appropriate evidences and students, their tutors and peers reflection on that. Main goal of the e-portfolio is to show success and developments of the student, his academic and professional growth, new acquired knowledge and competencies. Pursuant to available research papers and other scientific resources, the author highlights some deficiencies of existing e-portfolio systems and suggests further development and research directions in this area.
