Anotācija Collagen and elastin are fibrous proteins which form basis of connective tissue. These proteins are present in the skin, ligaments, tendons, bones, cartilage, blood vessel walls etc. Both of these proteins in tissues work in partnership: collagen gives strength and stretch and elastin gives elasticity, recoil function while stretching (vessels, ligaments, tendons) and contraction (muscle tissue). In aging process, collagen and elastin fibers degrade and their synthesis decreases. This can cause aging of the skin and of the whole organism, because these proteins lose their tissue supporting function. In this study, we developed an innovative biotextile material, namely cotton pads impregnated with suspension of technologically processed Baltic amber succinite containing 3-8% succinic acid. Cotton pads were impregnated with Baltic amber powder preparation (APP - amber powder suspension preparation, with additives) and pure Baltic amber powder suspension (APS) in different concentrations (5, 10, 20%). In all in vivo tests (Albino guinea pigs) this biotextile material expressed the ability to improve growth collagen (I, III types) and elastin in skin and its derivatives, blood vessels walls and muscle tissue (325% collagen by 5% APS).
