In this paper one turning insert coating technology, which called Duratomic, is choosen to study the 420 and 304 stainless steel machining process. Coated metal carbide inserts characterize high wear resistance, chemical stability, high hardness and its allowing for highen machining speeds. This multilayer coating technology ensure that each layer has its own function, toughness, wear resistance and reduced friction.
