As part of EU FP7 research project AREUS – Automation and Robotics for European Sustainable Manufacturing, research and demonstration activities in field of DC electrical power supply for industrial equipment at Riga Technical university, Institute of Industrial electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEI) are realised. New concepts leading to increase in energy efficiency and system optimisation by transition from AC to DC power supply will be verified that will enable design of factories of future, aiming at highly automated production processes with incorporation of industrial robots.
