In practice of Latvian Railway railway turnout elements are restored by manual metal arc welding process which has proven to be rather ineffective, therefore in search for more effective means of restoration, the railway turnout elements were restored by FCAW (flux cored arc welding) and further the obtained samples were analyzed with metallographic examination method. The study revealed that that FCAW ensures high quality of the build-up welding area.
