Previous studies have clearly shown that shoot-through generation by the overlap of active states has better operating parameters than other shoot-through generation methods. However, due to some disadvantages, this method has never been studied in detail. This paper is filling the gap by examining the shoot-through generation method by the overlap of active states. The disadvantages are explained and solutions are proposed. Moreover, a novel shifted overlap shoot-through modulation method is proposed and compared with the known symmetrical overlap method. Theoretical analysis is verified by the experiments on a real test prototype
