The main purpose of this work is to investigate the applied rules and special conditions of solar and hydropower plants in any rural village or on a remote island. The possibility of creating combined solar/hydropower plants and forming a coalition with local consumers to gain more profit is also considered. This specific application in a Turkish HPP is analyzed and the results are presented on worksheets. The calculation results are based on the data of real measurements. This methodology takes into account the stochastic behaviour of the electricity market prices, water flow rates and weather conditions. For regions with both solar and hydropower resources, the hydropower system and the solar power system may complement each other and mitigate the need for energy storage capacity.
