In this paper the stiffness characteristics of a flat type multi-layered rubber-metal package (TRME) under static loading are considered. Compressive, bending and shear behavior of the typical thin rubber layer bonded to the rigid metal plates is studied because it governs the behavior of TRME package. Compression and bending stiffness are obtained analytically based on variational principle using Ritz’s procedure. Solution are performed taking into account weak volume compressibility of elastomers (Poisson’s ratio μ < 0.5) for small deformation (∼10÷15%) and extended on the mean deformation (∼50%). Analytically predicted result are compared with experimentally obtained data. Stiffness characteristics strongly depends on the geometry of layers and elastomers physical and mechanical properties.
