Osteoporosis is a chronic, metabolic and systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD) and micro-architectural deterioration, resulting in increased bone fragility and fracture risk. Changes in the mineral structure occur due to aging or because of progressive pathologic processes such as osteoporosis, as well as in both aging and effects of bone diseases. Materials and methods. Experimental osteoporosis was induced on twenty 8 months old female rabbits by ovarioectomy and methylprednisolone course daily i/m 6 weeks 1mg/kg. Bone defect was made in femur trochanter major region and filled with 0, 5 mm granules of pure biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP, HAp/TCP 30/70) and TCP granules saturated with Stroncium 5% (Sr). In control groups were 2 healthy rabbits and 4 with experimental osteoporosis without implantation of bioceramics. After 3 months animals were euthanased and samples from different bone parts were taken. Results. Average HU value in rabbits jaw premolar region in control group of healthy animals was 782, 53, statistically significant in comparison with biphasic calcium phosphate group (0,008; (P < 0,05) and with Stroncium group (0,001;(P<.05). HU in jaws of rabbits with experimental osteoporosis without implantation of biomaterials was 677, 75. Average HU value in jaw of group with pure BCP granules in femur was 437, 14, but in group, were granules were saturated with Stroncium was 446, 14. Difference between them was not statistically significant (0, 92; P>.05).
