The article reviews the problems of training train traffic control operators, who train at real operating railway stations and computer based interlocking systems (CBIs) that are already commissioned where it is impossible to simulate abnormal and emergency situations without the risk of traffic safety. The structure of the CBI is considered, the tasks and problems of training operating and maintenance personnel, as well as train traffic control operators are described. The tasks for the virtual simulator of the automated workplace of the station and centralised traffic control operator were set. As a solution to the described problem, a virtual simulator model is proposed for training train traffic control operators using which it will be possible to improve the qualifications and professional skills of personnel to deal with abnormal situations. The possibilities of preparing, compiling and playing different train situations on the simulator are considered. Conclusions show that the approach of introducing virtual simulators into personnel training will allow to improve the educational process, increase skills and resistance to stress, and thus prepare personnel for various daily, abnormal and emergency situations.
