Calculation and Modeling of Compensating the Power Lost Due to Transmission Resistance of Overhead DC Network for Electric Transport

This paper discusses possibilities how to simulate transmission losses of electric public transport connected to overhead DC network. The first variant is the application of resistor subsystem; the second is to change the voltage of the substation imitating voltage source according to additional calculation of transmission voltage drop, thus simulating the voltage drop of trolleybus filter capacitor; the third is to calculate transmission losses mathematically. In frames of the latter variant, there is described a method how to calculate transmission losses by using transmission resistance value calculated in during simulation and the value of the measured current that corresponds to an ideal case without transmission losses. The correctness of the described variants was confirmed by the results of the virtual simulations with the results nearly overlapping.
