This paper analyzes power system ancillary service provision possibilities in the Baltic states. Study was made based on power plants operating modes, forecasts of development of ancillary service markets and information about future need of Baltic states after synchronization with Continental European network (CEN). Reactive power control, inertia and FCR services are under the scope. Economical evaluation was made for different scenarios and provides data which should help to make decision about investment in right solutions to keep high level of reliability of Latvian power network in the future.
