RTU Engineering High School is a comprehensive school founded in 2015 and is owned by “RTU inženierzinātņu vidusskola LLC”, which was established under Riga Technical University (RTU). This is the first high school ever established by a university in Latvia where the most talented pupils of Latvia can learn natural sciences in-depth and prepare for the engineering studies. The high school cooperates with RTU teaching staff at organization of the study process, scientific work and interest-related education. Pupils have a possibility to complete a list of RTU courses. When opting to study at RTU, the graduates of the Engineering High School can earn academic credit that they can use for learning the optional subjects at the university. The pupils learn scientific research and presentation skills, as well as are ready to work at RTU laboratories equipped with the state-ofthe- art technologies. The authors of the study, who are teaching higher mathematics at the Engineering High School, have made detailed analysis of the mathematics knowledge, as well as the utilization of the novel teaching methods and technical teaching aids for development of the studying skills.
