The article covers the design, construction process, development and transformation stages of Ziemeļblāzma palace of culture – one of the best examples of Art Nouveau style public buildings in Riga. The recently accomplished renovation and adaptation for the needs of the 21st century not only gives a new life to the historical structure, but also provides an insight into the social significance of the building both in the past and for the future.
