Hydrogels are of special interest for application in wound healing systems due to their biocompatibility, transparency (it allows easy to control the healling process) and ability to absorb water. In the presented research work poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) based heterogeneous composite (mainly, reinforced systems) systems were used. The selection of PVA is determined by its ability to form water solution, facilitating incorporation of therapeutic substances (as most of them are water soluble) and so excluding use of organic solvents in the process of hydrogel preparation.
