Structural Composition of Product Patterns within Class Function Hierarchical Network of Design Artifacts
Proceedings of the International Conference “The Modern Information Technology in the Innovation Processes of the Industrial Enterprises” (MITIP2007) 2007
Eduards Napalkovs

As is known, the conceptual design is recognized as the most critical stage of product development. To support conceptual design, different methodologies dealing with functions and reasoning about functions are used. This paper presents new model of functional design methodology that introduces concepts “composition synthesis”, “knot coordination” and “interknot coordination” in the process of building function means trees from structural patterns of available design artifacts.
