The tendency of the last years- transmigration of mass-production to the East, make necessity to protect Latvian economy from increasing changes. During the previous mass-production transmigration from more developed Europe countries to less developed ones, engineering technical employees could keep their working places longer then others. The high level qualification of employees and the importance of this part of work in all production process, did not allow delegate these responsibilities to unknown specialists. In clothing manufacturing design and construction are the most important engineering tasks. Only during the last years, almost after ten years of cooperation, the leaders of foreign production enterprises start to involve Latvian specialists in the development of new clothing collections. Collaboration partners have estimated the professionalism of our constructers and their ability to work with the newest technologies in this industry - computerized clothing design systems. The older generation garment constructers have difficulties in the adoption of computerized construction methods. Therefore mostly new specialists, the graduates of Latvian technical schools and high education institutes, are met in the design offices of foreign garment enterprises. From beginning of 90(s) the students of Institute of Textile Materials Technologies and Design of RTU acquire the bases of computerized clothing design systems and computerized clothing construction. The graduates of RTU are part of the best new generation clothing constructers in Latvian. The development of training methods, the entering of new perspective computerized design systems and their components (LECTRA, TEXDESIGN, GRAFIS) in training courses allow to educate high level specialists for Europe labour market.
