Our recent achievements in development of a new Smart Polymer Nanocomposites (SPNC) for use as sensitive elements in different kinds of transducers are presented. The main task was to elaborate and investigate a sort of materials that could be easily integrated, for example, in construction materials for civil engineering, automotive engineering, biosynthesis equipment etc. All of our elaborated materials are composites made of flexible insulating polymer matrix and electrically conductive carbon nanostructure filler. By choosing appropriate polymer matrix it is possible to create SPNC for humidity sensing, pressure sensing, mechanical vibrations control as well as for Volatile Organic Coumponds (VOCs) sensing. Completely flexible mechanical vibrations sensor element as well as integrated multisensors carpet have been developed. Functioning elements based on SPNC for selective sensing of different VOCs in this paper are demonstrated.
