Studies of TiO2 Ceramics Structure after Thermal Treatment at Different Conditions

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used in a wide range of applications, which is determined by its chemical stability, non-toxicity, availability and relative cheapness. TiO2 ceramics sintered in oxygen containing atmosphere (air) are non-conductive. Conductive ceramic materials with n-type semiconductor properties were obtained by sintering TiO2 ceramics in vacuum. Structural features (phase composition, micro strains, deviations from stoichiometry and nonstoichiometric TiO2-x appearance, grains size) have characteristic effects on ceramics properties.
