Devonian and Quarternary Latvian’s clays purposely to obtain porous ceramic materials like expanded clay pellets and ceramic pellets for the purification of wastewater are investigated. Expanded clay pellets by the new one stage technology are obtained. Ceramic pellets are fired at the temperature range 700 - 1050°C and sorption activity concerning pollutants with the ionic binding is determined. Pore structure of expanded clay and ceramic pellets by nitrogen adsorption (BET) method is determined.
