Clays in Latvia is an abundant mineral resource and their deposits are one of the largest in North Europa. Their application and investigation is mostly connected with production of building and various ceramic materials. To expand the application of Latvian clays it is necessary to investigate their properties and possibility to develop new products with high added value. The aim of this project is to investigate properties of Latvian illite clays and possibility for application in development of cosmetic products, biodegradable composite materials and new granular sorbent.
