The information of scientific publications about glycerol production and its untilization methods is summarized in the literature review of these thesis. Besides that information about supported monometallic, bimetallic and promoted platinum catalysts, their application in various processes, as well as data about liquid phase oxidation of glycerol in the presence of supported platinum catalysts, is reviewed. In the experimental part and in the result analysis part the activity and selectivity of new synthesized platinum catalyst in liquid phase oxidation of glycerol by molecular oxygen are studied. The influence of catalyst parameters, parameters of catalyst synthesis and glycerol oxidation conditions on the catalyst activity and selectivity are investigated. Optimal conditions for production of glyceric acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid and glyceraldehyde are determined.
