The article is about one of alternative energy types – sea wave power. In the paper the necessity of alternative energy is reasoned, as well as a theory of sea wave and energy potential in the Baltic Sea. The Paper also includes considerations of wave energy converters and electromechanical energy conversion features. Particular focus is devoted to direct drive linear generators. Calculation Section of the article comprises the analysis of statistical data of the Baltic Sea coastal area near Ventspils, calculations of equivalent wave parameters and computation of converter dimensions for a linear generator and pendulum converters. The topic describes some principles of wave energy converter types and mechanically, pneumatically and hydraulically driven generators and linear induction generators, that converts electromechanical energy into electrical energy. This topic also describes mathematical calculations of electrical parameters and characteristics for such energy converters. The most important conclusion drawn by the study is that the wave potential of the Baltic Sea is satisfactory for converting energy as it is proven by float dimension calculations.
