Identification of WEB Services Using Extended Metadata
2007
Peteris Stipravietis, Māris Ziema

The article discusses the problems of identifying Web services and limited capabilities of UDDI registry. It also gives short description of SISC (State Information Systems Combinator) and the service register it utilizes. The problem of Web service discovery is described in detail, as it often leads to unplanned increase of costs when developing systems. To improve the discovery and identification of Web services, extended metadata are introduced. These metadata describe parameters used in the Web services methods as data hierarchy. Offered model of data hierarchy allows defining business entities as well as generalization and composition of these entities. The article shows how one can save metadata into registry and perform search against them, including the generalizations and compositions into results. The conclusion shows how to use proposed method to perform search against the SISC registry and the results of the search.
