Properties of mechanically activated β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) are very important for successful application in calcium phosphate bone cements (CPCs). In this work properties of mechanically activated β-TCP powders produced by various routes are investigated. Two β-TCP synthesis methods were compared - high temperature synthesis (1) and wet chemical precipitation of calcium deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA) with following calcination (2). After milling various periods of time the reactivity of the obtained powders and suitability for use in CPC was evaluted.
