In this study hydroxyapatite (HAp) powders were prepared by wet chemical precipitation method from calcium hydroxide suspension and ortophosphoric acid solution. The precipitation was carried out at 45°C. The end pH value of reaction suspensions was varied from 5 to 10. Synthesized powders were heat treated at temperatures ranging from 900 to 1300°C for 1h. Termal stability, phase composition, functional groups, microstructure and sintering temperature were investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and optical dilatometer.
