Prolonging the lifetime of different friction pairs is one of the most topical problems nowadays in many branches. Anti-friction oil additives could be used in order to reduce the friction and wear by making protective oil film between the contacting surfaces. To ensure such a protective and anti-friction cover and to improve friction properties of two contacting surfaces it is necessary to find the proper oil additive composition for lubricating material. This article deals with new oil additive Retech consisting of three components which is worked out in order to reduce friction and wear processes. The product is in the form of powder intended for connection to the oil in the appropriate concentration. The chemical composition and manufacturing technology manufacturer keeps confidential. One of the directions of the usage of this product is automobile engine oils. The publication will cover the first phase of the laboratory tests of the oil additive Retech where the main task was to find out the powder’s concentration impact on automotive engine oil analyzing such parameters as oil kinematic viscosity, coefficient of friction and wear.
