Abstract. The aim of our paper is to evaluate the maximum structural information carried by a video lecture. To do this we have considered a natural lecture delivered by a lecturer and treated it as a communication channel consisting of a sound sub-channel and light sub-channel. The information in this channel will exceed that of captured by video and sound recorder because of video's technical limitations. Each sub-channel is transmitting frames whose maximum Shannon entropies are calculated basing on the human resolving power of different parameters coding the transmitted information. The frame rates are determined by the limiting characteristics of human ears and human eyes. Maximum transmitted total amount of information in both sub-channels and in whole channel is calculated as well as the corresponding channel capacities. The obtained results are discussed.
