Calcium phosphate cement pastes are composed of two or more starting materials and set in reaction between starting materials that precipitate to form a new crystalic solid phase. The shape and size of the precipitated crystals, as well as the amount of space between crystals (porosity) affects the properties of the set cement. In this work it is shown how differences in crystal structure affect the compressive strength of the cement.
